The checklist
Buyers comparing camping gear manufacturers and suppliers can use this checklist before sending an inquiry. The checklist keeps every point of the order in one place: the items grouped by family, the use planned for each item, the quantity range, the destination market, and the points to ask about.
- Group the item list by family: tents, sleeping bags, chairs, tables, gazebos and the other listed families.
- Name each item in plain words, one per line, under its family heading.
- Write the use planned for each item beside the name.
- Name the target quantity range for the order as a whole.
- Name the destination market for the order.
- Ask about MOQ and lead time in the inquiry.
- Ask for certificate copies in the inquiry.
- Write colour, size and shape requirements as points to confirm on inquiry.
Writing the inquiry
Write the inquiry from the checklist, family by family, in the same order as the checklist. Start with the families covered, then the item list under each family, then the quantity range, then the destination market. Keep a copy of the inquiry with the papers that arrive later, so the list named in the inquiry stays beside the quote.
